William David “Bill” Ray

BURLINGTON — William David “Bill” Ray, 68, of 2480 Carolina Road, died Sunday, February 3, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A native of Lipscomb, Alabama, he was the husband of Sharon Ann Kaufman Ray, who survives and the son of the late Claude and Pat Ray. He was a retired engineer with Walter Kidde in Mebane and also retired from the Faucette Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and motorcyclist.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Tracy Branley and husband, Jim, of Elon; brothers, James Ray and wife, Marilyn and Robert Ray and wife, Kay, all of Alabama; and a grandson, Jimmy Branley of Elon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Ray.
